A compact coaxial fed metamaterial antenna for wireless applications

Abstract: A novel planar metamaterial based dual band antenna for WLAN and WIMAX application is reported. The antenna consists of two metamaterial structures (i.e. Square Complementary Split Ring Resonator (SCSRR) and circular Split Ring Resonator (SRR)) and a rectangular stub as the radiating part. The specialty of the proposed metamaterial structure is that each metamaterial unit cell independently controls a particular band. The extraction of medium parameters through waveguide set-up is elaborated in detail. The ant… Show more

“…When combined with microwave integrated circuits, these structures provide a challenge since they lack planarity. [1][2][3] Therefore, variations in printed monopole designs are favoured. Radiating patch shapes that are most commonly used in UWB antenna design include rectangular, circular, triangular, sectoral, arc, and their modified variants.…”

“…Electrically small antennas suffer from the issue of efficiency and hence gain at target resonance [9,10]. Advanced techniques of metamaterial inspired antennas can also help in miniaturization [11,12]. There are a few tablet and laptop embedded antennas available in literature, which are recommended for endusers [13][14][15][16].…”
