Objectives: This study describes the relationship between sociodemographic factors, chronic conditions, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) fears and stressors, and the perception of risk from COVID-19 and the use of health protective behaviors among Arkansans during the COVID-19 pandemic.Methods: Data collected from an online survey, administered in Arkansas between July and August 2020 (n = 1205), were used to estimate regressions. The data analysis was completed in April 2021.Results: Wearing a face mask was the most commonly reported behavior (97.4%), followed by handwashing (97.2%). Protective behaviors increased with higher levels of fear (β = 0.030, P < 0.001), more stressors (β = 0.057, P = 0.002), and age (β = 0.006, P = 0.030). Female (β = 0.510, P < 0.001) and Black (β = 0.268, P = 0.039) respondents reported engaging in more protective behaviors than males or other races/ethnicities. Conclusions:In future pandemic planning, there will be a need to create messaging and interventions to increase health protective behaviors directed at young adults, men, and those with lower education levels. Providers will need to address fears related to COVID-19 and help their patients to manage those fears and anxieties.

Food for a Long Life (FFLL) is a communityuniversity-extension project that utilizes intergenerational strategies and a communitybased participatory action research approach to increase healthy food access, consumption, and education for preschoolers and older adults. As a Children, Youth, and Families at Risk sustainable community project of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, FFLL is within its fifth and final year working collaboratively at an intergenerational site in a midwestern United States community identified as being food insecure. During Project Years 2-4, FFLL engaged in iterative communication and relationship-building with stakeholders and a local food bank to identify and address community needs, resulting in the creation of a satellite food pantry. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Food Satellite served approximately 60 family members each month. FFLL strives for program sustainability beyond the grant-funding period by continuing community partnerships and training staff to facilitate the satellite food pantry operations.

Within the last year through the turmoil of the Covid-19 pandemic, an increasing number of families and individuals are experiencing food insecurity due to a loss of job, illnesses, or other financial struggles [4]. Many families in the Orange County area and abroad are turning to free food sources such as community food pantries or banks. Using specified surveys to food insecure families, we discovered a need for a solution to enhance the accessibility and usability of food pantries [5]. Therefore, we created a software application that uses artificial intelligence to locate specific items for users to request, and allow volunteers to see those requests and pick up the resources from food pantries, and deliver them directly to the homes of individuals. This paper shows the process in which this idea was created and how it was applied, along with the conduction of the qualitative evaluation of the approach. The results show that the software application allowed families and individuals to receive quality groceries at a much higher frequency, regardless of multiple constraints.
