A combined sound field reconstruction method for large cylindrical surfaces using non-conformal plane measurement

Abstract: In practical acoustic measurement for large cylindrical surfaces, it is difficult to keep conformal and coaxial between the holographic surface and the reconstruction surface. To overcome this problem, a combined sound field reconstruction method using non-conformal plane measurement is proposed in this paper. Based on the sound pressure measured on the holographic plane, the combined method first reconstructs the sound field on the cylindrical conformal surface using statistically optimal planar near-field ac… Show more

“…But it may be worth noting that adding an extra reconstruction step in the proposed method may introduce more errors. Therefore, regularization needs to be carried out carefully to restrain reconstruction errors (Cheng et al, 2022).…”

“…For example, planar waves represent flat sources, spherical waves are used for compact sources, and cylindrical waves are used for cylindrical sound sources. In a previous study [40], it has been proved that it is feasible to reconstruct the sound field of a cylindrical sound source using plane measurement, and cylindrical waves can be used to reconstruct cylindrical sound fields with higher accuracy compared with plane waves.…”

“…Near-field acoustic holography (NAH) [1][2][3][4] reconstructs the acoustic quantities at the source surface and at any point in the entire three-dimensional sound field by measuring the complex acoustic pressure or vibration velocity on the near-field because of its large measuring surface and high density of sensors.…”
