A combined AHP and TOPSIS approach for prioritizing the attributes for successful implementation of agile manufacturing

Abstract: PurposeThe concept of agile manufacturing is becoming critically important to manufacturing industry due to rapid industrialization, fluctuating customer demand, and turbulent business environment. The aim of this study is to prioritize the attributes for successful implementation of agile manufacturing using a combined analytical hierarchy process (AHP) and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) approach in Indian manufacturing industry.Design/methodology/approachThe current s… Show more

“…Konsep ini mengadopsi metode Analytical Hiererchy Process (AHP), dan Technique for Others Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). Kinerja metode tersebut dapat menyajikan hasil dalam bentuk rekomendasi pengambilan keputusan [17]. Kombinasi AHP dan TOPSIS dikembangkan dengan tujuan untuk memberikan hasil yang optimal [18].…”

“…As stated by Madi et al (2016), multi-criteria decision making is a challenging but essential process. Shih et al (2007) appended that one of the most preferred multiple objective decision-making methods is the technique for order performance by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), which is a useful technique for ranking and selection of a number of externally defined alternatives and a critically important tool in the current turbulent business environment (Kumar et al, 2020). So, the TOPSIS method was applied to analyse the business environment in the selected European countries in order to prioritise the attributes necessary for the successful development of potential business activities, which were then confirmed by comparing the findings with three well-known indices assessing the business environment worldwide: the Corruption Perception Index, the Doing Business Index, and the Global Competitiveness Index.…”

“…At present, there are decision-making problems, in which all possible alternatives are assessed based on several criteria, and such problems are the decision-making multi-criteria problems [2][3][4][5]. There are numerous theoretical approaches to such challenges, but they are hardly used and are time-consuming.…”

“…The aim of this study is to develop an algorithm for expert decision making using the AHP and TOPSIS methods [5][6][7][8], in which, the use of AHP method allows for determining the criterion weight, which is an important parameter in the decisionmaking problem, while the use of TOPSIS method allows for ranking the alternatives.…”
