A Combinatorial Approach for Colorimetric Differentiation of Organic Solvents Based on Conjugated Polymer‐Embedded Electrospun Fibers

Abstract: A combinatorial approach for the colorimetric differentiation of organic solvents is developed. A polydiacetylene (PDA)‐embedded electrospun fiber mat, prepared with aminobutyric acid‐derived diacetylene monomer PCDA‐ABA 1, displays colorimetric stability when exposed to common organic solvents. In contrast, a fiber mat prepared with the aniline‐derived diacetylene PCDA‐AN 2 undergoes a solvent‐sensitive color transition. Arrays of PDA‐embedded microfibers are constructed by electrospinning poly(ethylene oxide… Show more

“…Yoon et al [66] apresentam uma estratégia de diferenciação colorimétrica de solventes orgânicos baseada na fabricação combinatória de mantas eletrofiadas de PEO contendo concentrações variadas de dois derivados de polidiacetileno. Diferentes padrões de cores são obtidos conforme o solvente ao qual as mantas foram expostas.…”

“…a photon energy storage material and a colorimetric indicator of the storage) as the photoisomerization of azobenzene groups and the consequent steric repulsion between the side chains may control the conjugation length of the polymer backbone reversibly. In fact, polydiacetylenes generally exhibit colorimetric transitions (usually from blue to red) 40 upon various stimuli such as heat, 41 mechanical perturbation, 42 and solvents, 43 which shorten the conjugation of the polymer backbones. We also observed the reversible blue 4 red thermochromism of polymer lms (ESI Fig.…”
