A closer look to the sgoldstino interpretation of the diphoton excess

Abstract: Abstract:We revisit the sgoldstino interpretation of the diphoton excess in the context of gauge mediation. While the bound on the gluino mass might seem to make the sgoldstino contribution to the diphoton excess unobservable, we show that the interpretation is viable in a thin, near critical region of the parameter space. This regime gives rise to drastic departures from the standard gauge mediation picture. While the fermion messengers lie in the (10-100) TeV range, some scalar messengers are significantly l… Show more

“…Inclusion of the 8 TeV data reduces the best fit cross section significantly and simplifies the explanation of the excess in terms of a GUT. Second we take into account sfermionic contributions to the diphoton cross section which can be significant (this was also pointed out in [20,31]). …”

“…35 • Other explanations with the (N)MSSM require additional couplings or particles in the spectrum. Examples are solutions in the R-parity violating MSSM, 36,37 or a very low SUSY-breaking scale, where the sgoldstino is identified with Φ 750 , [38][39][40] or within the NMSSM turning nonperturbative at O(10 TeV). 41 …”
