Adverse shifts in the diversity and abundance of the intestinal microbiome contribute to the progression of musculoskeletal diseases. Hormonal changes that occur during menopause with reduction in estrogen levels, affect bone density, vasomotor, and other physical, psychosocial, and sexual related symptoms.
