Abstract: BACKGROUNDAfter obesity, thyroid disorders are the most common cause of metabolic disturbances, with surgery forming the mainstay of treatment of many thyroid swellings.The major complications include postoperative haemorrhage, respiratory obstruction, hyperthyroid storm, hypoparathyroidism, and laryngeal nerve injuries.
