A clinical study of intestinal stomas: its indications and complications

Abstract: Background: Intestinal stoma is an opening for fecal diversion. The purpose of the present study was to identify indications for commonly performed intestinal stomas and to study complications related to it. Safirullah et al 11 reported major complications as skin excoriation (12%) oedema of spout (8%) prolapse (6%) and retraction (4%).
