“…Pregnancy appears to be rare in patients with paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria and only 3 of 18 married patients mentioned by Dacie (1967) became pregnant. Miscarriages in patients with this disease have been described before (Witts, 1936;Wagley and Rumsfeld, 1958), and a report by Schiavo and Pennini de Vega (1955) suggested that miscarriage is likely to occur during bouts of severe anaemia. In our patient each of the three miscarriages followed an episode of severe anaemia.…”
