A circularly polarized meander loop antenna for unmanned aerial vehicle satellite navigation system

Abstract: A circularly polarized (CP) meander loop antenna used in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) satellite navigation system is proposed. The planer size of the proposed antenna is 45.6 Â 38.4 mm 2 and it was printed on a thin flexible substrate with a thickness of only 0.063 mm. Thus, it has the advantages of a lightweight, low profile, and ease in manufacturing. The proposed antenna design utilizes a loop antenna and has applied a perturbed element into the loop to excite two equal amplitude electric fields with a… Show more

“…1,7 Antennas with communication capabilities are often utilized in various types of aviation equipment in different structural shapes. In the past design of airborne applications, antennas with different structures, such as segmented loop printed antenna, 13 wireframe monocone antenna, 14 and improved monopole antenna, 15 where the monopole antenna due to its volume Small, lightweight, and able to utilize the airborne environment as its ground plane are becoming more common. The knife monopole antenna 16 is chosen for aerial applications due to its low windage, lightweight, simple construction, and wide bandwidth.…”

“…However, conventional airborne antennas generally have larger geometries 14,16 and narrower frequency band bandwidths. 13,15 Low windage is a vital indicator when designing omnidirectional airborne antennas for high-speed aircraft. [17][18][19][20][21] The ODP antenna proposed in 17 uses a wedge-profiled structure to achieve low windage characteristics for supersonic applications.…”
