A circularly polarized harmonic-rejecting antenna for wireless power transfer applications

Abstract: Abstract:A dual-feed circularly polarized antenna with built-in harmonic-rejection capabilities is presented for the first time. The square patch antenna has been designed at 5.8 GHz and incorporates both circular polarization and harmonic-rejection in a single design, thus eliminating the need of a low-pass filter. A comparison among the proposed antenna, a simple square patch antenna, and a truncated square patch antenna is performed to evaluate the capabilities of the proposed design. The realized antenna e… Show more

“…To satisfy the demands of the size, weight, cost, and ease of system integration for V2N communication, a microstrip antenna is chosen . In addition, for achieving orthogonal linear polarizations, a perpendicular feeding network is considered in and controlling operation bands with different polarization, the H‐slotted ground structure is investigated based on the earlier study . Because of the geometrically axis‐symmetric ground slots which changed by the locations of the perpendicular feeding, the independent loading effect of the slot, such as H‐shape and I‐shape slotted ground was utilized.…”

“…Because circularly polarized (CP) antennas provide advantages of insensitive orientation mismatch losses and suppressed multi-path fading interferences [1], CP antennas have been considered for wireless communication systems [2] and wireless power transfer applications [3]. In addition, reconfigurable antennas with diversity functions make the system capability double owing to reuses and controls of the frequency and polarization [4].…”

“…Different techniques implemented such as in [20][21][22][23][24][25], introduced the reflection coefficient of less than -3 dB of higher order harmonics, however the application of the antenna is limited to the functionality of single-band frequency application. The vision of green technology can be seen to be implied where most of the design are much more compact with the same structural physical antenna have been achieved in order to reduce development cost and sustain the environment.…”
