Commonly used drop-based channel models cannot satisfy the requirements of spatial consistency for millimeterwave (mmWave) channel modeling where transient motion or closely-spaced users need to be considered. A channel model having spatial consistency can capture the smooth variations of channels, when a user moves, or when multiple users are close to each other in a local area within, say, 10 m in an outdoor scenario. Spatial consistency is needed to support the testing of beamforming and beam tracking for massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) and multi-user MIMO in fifthgeneration (5G) mmWave mobile networks. This paper presents a channel model extension and an associated implementation of spatial consistency in the NYUSIM channel simulation platform [1], [2]. Along with a mathematical model, we use measurements where the user moved along a street and turned at a corner over a path length of 75 m in order to derive realistic values of several key parameters such as correlation distance and the rate of cluster birth and death, that are shown to provide spatial consistency for NYUSIM in an urban microcell street canyon scenario.

Inter-carrier interference (ICI) in vehicle to vehicle (V2V) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems is a common problem that makes the process of detecting data a demanding task. Mitigation of the ICI in V2V systems has been addressed with linear and non-linear iterative receivers in the past; however, the former requires a high number of iterations to achieve good performance, while the latter does not exploit the channel’s frequency diversity. In this paper, a transmission and reception scheme for low complexity data detection in doubly selective highly time varying channels is proposed. The technique couples the discrete Fourier transform spreading with non-linear detection in order to collect the available channel frequency diversity and successfully achieving performance close to the optimal maximum likelihood (ML) detector. When compared with the iterative LMMSE detection, the proposed system achieves a higher performance in terms of bit error rate (BER), reducing the computational cost by a third-part when using 48 subcarriers, while in an OFDM system with 512 subcarriers, the computational cost is reduced by two orders of magnitude.

Based on the function and performance testing requirements of Internet of Vehicles, a design scheme for automatic simulation test and verification platform for the Internet of Vehicles based on cellular networks and real network in-loop is proposed. First, the overall structure of the simulation test platform and the specific function of each component are presented. The main and functional components of the real cellular network simulation subsystem are then discussed. Finally, two typical application test scenarios are designed and presented; namely, vehicle remote-startup delay test based on a cloud platform and Internet of Vehicles local performance test of different frequency cell switching in a dynamic scenario. Experimental results verify that the simulation test platform can meet the test verification, performance evaluation, and troubleshooting requirements of the Internet of Vehicles function. It is important to improve the application experience of intelligent connected vehicles and the Internet of Vehicles.
