A Change-point Analysis Method for Single-trial Study of Simultaneous EEG-fMRI of Auditory/Visual Oddball Task

Abstract: Simultaneous EEG-fMRI has been vastly used to investigate functional networks of brain combining high spatial resolution (millimeter) of fMRI with high temporal resolution (millisecond) of EEG. However, to extract the most relevant information from the acquired data, it is necessary to develop analysis methods with less ad hoc assumptions. To this end, brain rhythms are often used which are the specific frequency-bands of EEG signal and assumed to represent diverse sub-second cognitive processes at different p… Show more

“…One of these developments is, for example, the increasing usage of multivariate statistics to model artifact and neural sources ( Jung et al, 2000 ). With these techniques it is even possible to integrate different measurements like simultaneous EEG-fRMI ( Debener et al, 2006 ; Diukova et al, 2008 ; Sajda, 2009 ; Hoffmann et al, 2013 ; Dizaji and Soltanian-Zadeh, 2017 ). For a detailed and extended overview of methodological advances, the reader might refer to a recent research topic edited by Gramann et al (2014) .…”

“…Having been studied for nearly a century by researchers, CPD was originally motivated in problems of fault detection and quality control [1]. Since then, a wide range of CPD methods has been developed and applied across a diverse set of applications including finance [2], human activity analysis [3], ECG and EEG processing [4], [5], speech [6], sensor networks [7], [8], and climate change [9].…”

“…It has a spatial resolution of up to ~1 mm. While MRI is an excellent tool for assessing ICH, it has some limitations including low temporal resolution (~several seconds), and drawn-out imaging time (~several minutes) [15,16], thus not an ideal tool for monitoring ICH.…”
