A caustic ingestion consequence mistaken for gastric cancer: A case report

Abstract

Highlights Gastric stenosis is seldom encountered in adult patients. Suicide attempt should be considered as differential diagnosis. Multiple etiologies results in gastric stenosis. They do not usually cause acute gastric obstruction. Both acidic and alkaline chemicals are implicated. 4th type of gastric strictures is the “Linitis-Plastica-like” appearance. The management of caustic gastritis ranges from supportive to surgical treatment.
