A Cation-exchange Study of Tracer Concentrations of Bismuth(III) in Perchlorate Solutions

Abstract: A cation-exchange method was used for determining the average cationic charge of bismuth species present in tracer concentrations (ca. 10" 11 mol dm" 3 Bi) in 1.0 mol dm" 3 (H,Na)C10 4 solution at -log[H + ] = 1.0. This method is based on measurements of the distribution ratio of bismuth at a constant composition of electrolyte ions in the cation-exchanger phase.
