A Case Study on the Control of Large Deformations in a Roadway Located in the Du’erping Coal Mine in China

Abstract: The effective control of large roadway deformations has always been a focus and difficulty in the coal industry. At present, a “bolt + cable + mesh + shotcrete” combined support structure has been widely used in China to support roadways with large deformations, and this method has achieved some success. However, large roadway deformations supported by using the “bolt + cable + mesh + shotcrete” support structure still have a series of engineering problems. This paper describes a case study of large deformatio… Show more

“…Wang et al [11] put forward the concept of "integral support" and developed the support system of square steel restrained concrete. In view of the large deformation of the surrounding rock roadway in Du'erping coal mine, Yang et al [12] put forward a new "shell + anchor + shotcrete" combined support structure. According to the deformation characteristics of a soft rock roadway, Guo et al [13] studied the interaction mechanism between a new type of bolt (constant resistance large deformation bolt) and the surrounding rock.…”

“…In particular, the high in situ stress combined with the softening of water causes a reduction in rock strength. e surrounding rock is squeezed out slowly, resulting in large deformation of the surrounding rock [29,30]. e tunnel is located in the high-stress section, which can be classified as IIB (stress dilatancy type).…”

“…e use of rock bolts and anchor cables has become an important and main support method for coal mine roadway support [1]. With the increasing depth of coal mining, the changeable geological structure in the environment of deep underground, the complex stress environment, and the large common deformation and failure of surrounding rock appear, while the conventional supporting methods show limitations [2,3].…”
