A Case of Rectal GIST Performed by Laparoscopic Super Low Anterior Resection with a Partial Resection of Vagina after Imatinib Mesylate Neoadjuvant Therapy
Abstract:A 43-year-old woman was diagnosed as rectal gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). CT and MRI revealed a tumorclose to the vagina. We decided to treat with neoadjuvant therapy using imatinib mesylate to reduce the tumor size and Imatinib mesylate neoadjuvant therapy is useful to reduce tumor size. Preserving the internal anal sphincter is useful to keep the function of the anus, which can be performed more safely and correctly by laparoscopic surgery.
