A Case of Psoriasis Concomitant with Sweet’s Syndrome

Abstract

Psoriasis often coexists with other skin conditions, which adds to the complexity of patient management. Sweet's syndrome, a rare inflammatory skin disorder, is rarely associated with psoriasis, and its etiology remains elusive. Herein, we present a unique case of Sweet's syndrome in a patient with psoriasis. A 46-year-old man, with a history of psoriasis-like skin lesions treated with an unidentified medication, developed painful erythematous plaques and fever. He was diagnosed with Sweet's syndrome after a skin biopsy. Steroid therapy initially improved the patient's symptoms; however, its discontinuation led to the recurrence of psoriasis-like scaly plaques. An additional skin biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of psoriasis. Complete resolution of the lesions was achieved after 7 months of methotrexate treatment. In conclusion, this is the first reported case of psoriasis concomitant with Sweet's syndrome in Korea, highlighting the importance of recognizing coexisting skin conditions in patients with psoriasis despite their rarity.
