A Case of Lymphomatoid Keratosis

Abstract: Fig. 1. Pruritic, solitary, well-demarcated, brown Lymphomatoid keratosis (LK) is considered to be a rare variant of cutaneous lymphoid hyperplasia, with epidermotropism. We herein report a case of LK which developed on the abdomen of an elderly Korean woman. A 60-year-old woman presented with a 10-year history of a pruritic, solitary, brown to black plaque on the abdomen. Histopathologically, the specimen showed hyperkeratosis, parakeratosis, acanthosis and Pautrier's micro-abscess in the epidermis, and a l… Show more

“…Lymphomatoid keratosis often presents as an isolated scaly papule. Histopathologically, the lesions show an exuberant lymphocytic infiltrate (often T‐cell rich, mimicking mycosis fungoides) with cases that show an abundance of B‐cells mimicking B‐cell lymphomas 70,71 . Lesions can be distinguished from lymphoma by the presence of a lichenoid tissue reaction and absence of a grenz zone.…”

“…It has also been described as single-lesion mycosis fungoides (MF) and a type of cutaneous lymphoid hyperplasia, due to the epidermotropism that exhibits (Arai et al 2007). The etiology of lymphomatoid keratosis is unknown, but there are hypotheses that can appear after arthropod bites, tattoos, vaccination, and injection of medications (Choi et al 2010). -Clinical feature: It is an asymptomatic flaky, erythematous plaque appearing usually on the face and upper trunk (Fig.…”

“…Usually, this solitary lesion is surgically removed for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Choi et al reported recurrence followed surgical treatment (Choi et al 2010), but otherwise it is believed to be benign in nature as a pseudolymphoma (Caucanas et al 2014). -Differential diagnosis: Single-lesion MF, BCC, irritated seborrheic keratosis, lichenoid keratosis, and actinic keratosis.…”

“…O diagnóstico assenta nestes casos numa boa correlação clínico-patológica. 9,10 No liquen áureus/dermite púrpurica pigmentada liquenóide, o infiltrado linfocitário denso, em banda, pode por vezes confundir-se com a micose fungóide. A distinção faz-se …”
