“…In fact, diseases related with the biliary system are reported frequently in patients with ectopic CBD opening[2-4,9,11-18]. In this study, CBD dilatation was found in 94% of the cases with or without intrahepatic biliary dilatation.…”

“… 1 - 6 Normal sphincteric musculature is absent around the entrance of accessory bile ducts into the gastrointestinal tract. 14 , 18 In our case series, we found diffuse dilatation in both extrahepatic and intrahepatic bile ducts in all patients. We did not identify any stricture preventing biliary drainage on cholangiography in any patients.…”

“…Our patient had developed a slight fever daily for no less than 3 years before detection; few cases like this have been reported, which may be accounted on the basis of cholangitis from reflux of the stomach contents. Accompanying congenital anomalies were found in 12 cases [7,[11][12][13][14][15], including duodenal atresia (four cases), congenital biliary dilatation (three cases), absence of the gallbladder (two cases), abnormal confluence of the intrahepatic bile duct (two cases), sinistrocardia with situs inversus (two cases), and left hepatic duct stricture (one case). From 1543-1932, all 16 cases were found at autopsy, and after 1935 these anomalies were also discovered by surgeons [8].…”

“…Egawa reported the first case of double common bile duct detected on barium meal study of the stomach in 1968 [9], and ours is the twelfth such case. The 11 reports with histological investigation confirmed an absence of sphincteric musculature of the accessory bile duct at the entrance to the gastrointestinal tract [8,10,13,[16][17][18][19]. Barium reflux into the accessory bile duct may show an absence or failure of sphincteric function.…”
