“…Based on MRI characteristics, spinal epidural vascular le sions can be categorized into 4 types: arteriovenous type with an organized hematoma, venous type, cavernous type, and cavernous type with hematoma. 10 Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) has no role in the management of epi dural cavernous hemangiomas, 7,12 since these lesions fail to show up on angiography and cannot be embolized; how ever, DSA can be helpful in ruling out other types of spi nal vascular malformations. Arteriovenous malformations usually show flow void signal on MR images due to highvelocity blood flow.…”

“…1 Hemangiomas of the spine are generally lesions of the vertebral bodies, but can occur in other locations. 2 It frequently occurs in the intradural extramedullary compartment. 3 Pure epidural hemangiomas are very rare.…”

“…To the best of our knowledge, only nine cases in the English literature have been described. [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] Eight of these cases involved thoracic spinal levels and one case involved a lumbar level. 8 Of these, four cases presented with an extraforaminal extension causing a dumbbell-shaped appearance in spinal MRI studies.…”

“…18 Although cutaneous hemangiomas are the most common tumor of infancy, affecting 3%-10% of all children, 20 intradural hemangiomas are much less common. There are multiple reports of spinal extradural 5,10,12 and intradural 8,9,14,15,17,22,23,26 hemangiomas in adults. We report the case of a newborn with a cutaneous hemangioma, as well as hemangiomas in the extradural space and a intradural space involving the DRG.…”
