A Cascade Model with Prior Knowledge for Bone Age Assessment

Abstract: Bone age is commonly used to reflect growth and development trends in children, predict adult heights, and diagnose endocrine disorders. Nevertheless, the existing automated bone age assessment (BAA) models do not consider the nonlinearity and continuity of hand bone development simultaneously. In addition, most existing BAA models are based on datasets from European and American children and may not be applicable to the developmental characteristics of Chinese children. Thus, this work proposes a cascade mode… Show more

“…When detecting fashion image categories, there are numerous categories that have similar patterns, such as dress and skirt categories. Researchers are proposed to differentiate object-to-object detection in the previous research [42][43][44][45][46]. To extract suitable and efficient adjacent objects in fashion detection, ref.…”

“…[66] proposed the YOLO method with a larger effective receptive field (ERF-YOLO), which would reduce the number of model parameters while maintaining the same performance. BAFPN [42] is a novel bidirectional Feature Pyramid Network that constructs precise object recognition networks using YOLOv4 and Adaptively Spatial Feature Fusion. Utilizing the Exponential Moving Average improves network performance.…”

“…Finally, the maturity scores of all bones are added to determine the total bone maturity scores, and the bone age is determined according to those total bone maturity scores. Li NX et al., 2022 proposed a bone age assessment system incorporating prior knowledge of RUS-CHN with a MAE of 4.44 months (0.37 years) ( 20 ).…”
