A cadaveric study on the anatomy of anterior cruciate ligament in Vietnamese adults

Abstract: ObjectivesTo report the anatomical characteristics of the ACL in Vietnamese individuals.Subjects and methodsTen fresh knees were dissected to investigate the anatomical characteristics of ACL. The insertion position, length and diameter of ACL were measured.ResultsThe average lengths of AM and PL bundle of the ACL were 30.6 mm and 25.6 mm, respectively. The average sizes of the femoral and tibial ACL attachment sites were 13.8 × 10.6 mm and 13.4 × 10.2 mm, respectively.ConclusionThe anatomical characterisitcs … Show more

“…Nevertheless, it was thought that the size of the graft should not be larger than the footprint of ACL to avoid impingement. In a study, the footprint of the ACL on the femur condyle and tibial plateau was 13.8×10.6 mm and 13.4×10.2 mm, respectively 17. The method of this study harvested enough content of graft, not exceeded the expected dimensions.…”

Before this present study, Lippe et al 13 dissected 11 cadaver knee specimens and proposed the harvesting way of this present study.…”

“…From the left to the right; Full-thickness QT with bone, Full-thickness QT without bone, Partialthickness QT without bone, BTB, double rectus femoris, quadruple semi-tendinosis Switzerland) to ensure symmetric size of the tendon graft and a minimum length of 80 mm. All QT grafts had 25 mm of exposed tendon between the two clamps in order to try to simulate a native ACL length [1,19,32]. For bone plug harvesting, a 10 mm width and a 25 mm length were measured, and a sagittal saw (Smith & Nephew Inc., Andover, Massachusetts) was used to harvest the bone plug.…”
