A C0 three-node triangular element based on preprocessing approach for thick sandwich plates

Abstract: This paper will try to overcome two difficulties encountered by the C0 three-node triangular element based on the displacement-based higher-order models. They are (i) transverse shear stresses computed from constitutive equations vanish at the clamped edges, and (ii) it is difficult to accurately produce the transverse shear stresses even using the integration of the three-dimensional equilibrium equation. Invalidation of the equilibrium equation approach ought to attribute to the higher-order derivations of d… Show more

“…The analytical expressions are validated against accurate numerical solutions and three-dimensional (3D) FEA simulations for the same boundary value problem. Recently, the improved laminate theory, especially for the vibration and damping analysis of laminated composite, was proposed in literatures (Zhen et al, 2017(Zhen et al, , 2018Zhen and Wanji, 2008), which can be applied in the extension of this work on dynamical model, where the vibrational behavior of laminate beam is dependent on initial deflection of laminate beam (Razavilar et al, 2018a).…”

“…A significant number of research studies (Hosseini et al, 2014;, 2018a, 2018b has been done using isogeometric analysis for numerical analysis of laminated composites. Many researchers (Kulkarni et al, 2015;Xu et al, 2018;Wu et al, 2005Wu et al, , 2017Zhen and Wanji, 2008;Sori c and Smojver, 1995;Cagdas and Adali, 2012;Mahapatra et al, 2016) have worked on analysis of laminated composite shells.…”
