A burst traffic control strategy for ATM networks

Abstract: This paper proposes a burst traffic control strategy based on "virtual cell loss probability", which is newly defined as a method of evaluating service quality in Asynchronous Transfer Mode ( ATM ) networks. The virtual cell loss probability for each traffic source is obtained from only average and maximum bandwidths.
