A broad-band parametric up-converter for S-band troposcatter communication systems

Abstract

An upper sideband up-converter using a snap varactor diode capable of providing a oseful signal gain is described. The unit can be used for any of the r.f. channels in the specified band width (400 MHz) of the S-band communication system without retuning : merely the band.pass filter requires setting of the micrometers for the respective mid-frequency by a calibrated chart.
