A biomimetic fluorescent chemosensor for highly sensitive zinc(ii) detection and its application for cell imaging

Abstract: To fabricate a novel biomimetic fluorescent chemosensor, PSaAEMA-co-PMPC was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization, and this copolymer could be used for the detection of zinc(ii) and cell imaging.

“…An adult human contains an average of 2-3.5 g of zinc, and the total concentration of Zn 2+ in serum is 10 mM. 2,3 The suggested daily consumption of zinc for a person is between 8 and 11 g per day. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a zinc concentration of 76 mM in drinking water.…”

“…[28][29][30] Hence, the design and development of novel uorescent chemosensors for the selective and sensitive detection of intracellular Zn(II) remains an essential and highly desirable area for research. 31,32 The literature report suggests that there are currently a few investigations on triazine Schiff base as a uorescent sensor for the recognition of three Zn(II) ions through the uorescence sensing approach. This research illustrates the design and development of a novel uorescent chemosensor for rapid recognition of Zn(II) and it shows remarkable sensitivity towards Zn(II).…”
