A BiFET differential current-mode transceiver for the intelligent peripheral interface

Abstract

This paper discusses the design of a three-channel driverheceiver chip. The electrical characteristics of the new chip meet the requirements for one class of a standard interface. The chip features differential current-mode drivers and differential receivers, and is designed in a 6 GHz/l.O p m BiFET process. Design techniques used to meet the requirements of the interface specification while remaining within limitations imposed by technology and economic factors will be discussed. Results obtained with the new chip will be presented.introduction
