A Bidirectional Multiband Antenna With Modified Fractal Slot Fed by CPW

Abstract: Abstract-This paper presents a multiband slot antenna with modifying fractal geometry fed by coplanar waveguide (CPW) transmission line. The presented antenna has been designed by modifying an inner fractal patch of the antenna to operate at multiple resonant frequencies, which effectively supports the digital communication system (DCS 1.71-1.88 GHz), worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX 3.30-3.80 GHz), IMT advanced system or forth generation mobile communication system (3.40-4.2 GHz), and wir… Show more

“…Fractals are deployed in patch antennas of various shapes [9,10]. They are also utilized in slot and helix type of antennas [11,12] for multiband, multimode operations. They are also employed in combination as in [13], where authors have combined Sierpinski and Koch fractal curves to create a dipole antenna.…”

“…Interestingly the planar slot antennas with CPW fed posses the features mentioned above with simple structure, less radiation loss, less dispersion and easy integration of monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC) [3]. Hence, the CPW fed planar slot antennas [4][5][6][7][8][9][10] are identified as the most promising antenna design for wideband wireless applications.…”

“…The planar monopole antenna is often adapted to realize multiple-band operation, with various structures such as letter-like shape [1][2][3][4][5][6]12], plant-like shape [7], and fractal structures [8][9][10][11][15][16][17]. An asymmetrical meandered T-shaped monopole with a long and a short arm has been used in [1], and a dual band has been realized.…”
