A Bargmann-Wightman-Wigner-type quantum field theory

Abstract: We show that the (j, 0) ⊕ (0, j) representation space associated with massive particles is a concrete realisation of a quantum field theory, envisaged many years ago by Bargmann, Wightman and Wigner, in which bosons and antibosons have opposite relative intrinsic parities. Demonstration of the result requires a careful ab initio study of the (j, 0) ⊕ (0, j) representation space for massive particles, introducing a wave equation with well defined transformation properties under C, P and T, and addressing the is… Show more

“…The literature on the subject has, so far, provided valuable general insights [6][7][8] but it lacks in specific constructs. Yet, a focus on specifics can bring about important and unexpected insights which otherwise escape [20]. It is in this latter spirit also that this paper comes into existence.…”

“…Spin-1 and Spin-0 thus become covariantly inseparable in the (1/2, 1/2) representation space. On the other hand, if one wishes to have a pure spin-1 massive object, then that object must transform according to the (1, 0) ⊕ (0, 1) representation [25].…”

“…[1]. Then, Ahluwalia et al proposed [5] the BargmannWightman-Wigner-type quantum field theory, where, as they claimed, the boson and the antiboson have oposite intrinsic parities (see also [6]). Actually, this type of theories has been first proposed by Gelfand and Tsetlin (1956), Ref.…”
