Abstract:We present an audit of the 'airway-breathing-circulation' related skills in midwives working in our maternity unit and directly participating in postoperative anaesthetic recovery following elective and emergency obstetric operations. This audit was inspired by College [1] and NICE [2] guidelines regarding recognition of acutely ill patients in hospital, since the similar basic assessment skills are necessary for recognition of potentially sick parturients.
