“…3,10 She subsequently underwent closure of a residual VSD and RV outflow tract reconstruction by atrioventricular groove patch plasty in 1996. 13,17,18 Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) measured recently ranged 400 to 600 pg/mL and g-GT 200 to 250. Clinically, she is fairly well, in New York Heart Association (NYHA) class II at 40 years after ventricular septation.…”

“…Thirty-four patients underwent ventricular septation procedures for single ventricle, DILV from 1971 to 2000 at Tokyo Women's Medical University and Jikei University. 3,[10][11][12][13] One of the three patients reported by Sakakibara and Arai in 1973 10 had a morphology of common ventricle with a large VSD (which is not DILV) and hence is excluded from this series. The DILV, fS,L,Lg was present in 28, DILV, fS,D,Dg in four, and DILV, fS,D,Ng in two.…”

“…2 There are very few reports of long-term survivors of ventricular septation with complex doubleinlet left ventricle with a hypoplastic outflow chamber. 3,4 The present case report presents a ventricular septation survivor with underlying complex congenital heart disease who recently underwent surgical replacement of her right ventricle to pulmonary artery conduit. To our knowledge, this is the first published report of cardiac magnetic resonance including delayed contrastenhanced imaging in such a patient.…”

“…To the best of our knowledge, such spiraling of a surgically inserted ventricular septum has not previously attracted attention, perhaps because our patient had concordant ventriculoarterial connections, 1 in contrast to the more usual discordant connections found in the setting double-inlet left ventricle. 2,3 The images also reveal, as demonstrated by the locations of the 3 calcified pledgets that were used to hold the 3 transapical stitches, the presence of a newly acquired muscular apical component to the septum, which is potentially growable, in contrast to the prosthetic component of the patch obviously showing no evidence of expansion. The images show the potential of producing a virtually normal spiral arrangement of biventricular intracardiac structures when it proves possible to septate the hearts of patients born with double-inlet left ventricle.…”
