A 2-Year Evaluation of Quality of Life Outcomes of Patients With Pelvic Organ Prolapse Treated With an Elevate Prolapse Repair System

Abstract: This study demonstrates that prosthetic vaginal correction represents a long-term efficient clinical instrument for women with symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse. It also achieves a resolution for urinary symptomatology and embarrassment, social limitation, physical and psychological difficulties of women, which, in great part, resulted in many overcoming surgical therapy, worried about fixed outcomes.

“…There were two main procedures for vaginal surgeries: reconstructive (in two subgroups, including repair with natural tissue [ 17 , 19 , 20 , 23 , 24 , 31 , 36 , 37 , 38 , 60 , 61 , 63 , 64 , 65 , 66 ] ( Table 2 ) and repair with mesh [ 7 , 9 , 12 , 21 , 25 , 26 , 29 , 32 , 35 , 39 , 40 , 41 , 42 , 43 , 44 , 55 , 62 , 67 , 68 , 69 , 78 , 82 , 83 , 85 ]) ( Table 3 ) and obliterative surgeries [ 18 , 27 , 60 , 71 , 72 , 73 , 86 ] ( Table 4 ). In one study, obliterative surgery and sacrospinous fixation in older postmenopausal women were compared, and the QoL was better in the sacrospinous group [ 18 ].…”

“…Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) occurs when the uterus or vagina descends from its normal anatomical position, and it is associated with a lifetime risk of up to 12% for women by the age of 80 years [1][2][3][4]. Almost one-third of patients with POP complain about their quality of life (QoL) worsening due to the condition [5]. The POP incidence rate is expected to increase in the next 40 years, with as many as five million women estimated to be affected by 2050, with a reoperation rate of 30% [1,6].…”
