Abstract:Stress analysis is carried out in an orthotropic strip containing a Volterra-type screw dislocation. The distributed dislocation technique is employed to obtain integral equations for a strip weakened by cracks and cavities under antiplane traction. These equations are of Cauchy singular kind, which are solved numerically by generalizing a numerical method available in the literature. Several examples are solved to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the procedure.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
