“…The combustion synthesis of the NiAl compound is usually considered to be ignited when the aluminium melting temperature (660uC) is reached. 8,9 The temperature values recorded in the test are close to the thermodynamic calculation (in Table 1) and the measured adiabatic temperature is close to the calculated one, so we can presume that the SHS reaction took place almost totally.…”

“…Non-electric welding is an innovative evolution from Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis(SHS) welding. SHS welding utilizes the SHS reaction heat to join materials, and finds wide applications in joining refractory metals, ceramics and intermetallic compounds [2][3][4][5]. However, SHS welding typically requires a set of vacuum and high-pressure reaction furnace and heating apparatus, resulting in an operation inconvenience.…”

“…The influence of Pt content on the combustion synthesis of NiAl was studied upon variation in process parameters. The values previously optimized for the SHS build-up process [82,83] were taken as the starting point of this study. They were as follows: P Ar = 50 MPa, v h = 90 deg min -1 , G Ni = 10 µm, G Al = 30 µm, P comp = 50 MPa, m = 1 g. Nevertheless, because of platinum addition, alternative values were tested for v h = 50 deg min -1 , P comp = 100 MPa, and the compact weight m = 0.5 and 0.7 g. The average grain size of Pt was G Pt = 2 µm, and the tested values for platinum content were 5, 8, 12, and 18 at %.…”
