“…Despite the high heterogeneity, all but one of the studies showed a positive association between alexithymia and substance use (Bulai & Enea, 2016 ). Two clinical studies suggested a very strong positive association and were seen as outliers (Ghorbani et al ., 2017 ; Rasheed, 2001 ).
