Bis-thiourea strontium chloride was synthesized and single crystals were grown by the slow solvent evaporation technique using aqueous solvent. The solubility curve was obtained and the determination of the induction period as well as the evaluation of kinetic parameters of nucleation was carried out. The powder XRD analysis suggested orthorhombic crystal structure. The FT-IR spectrum confirmed the presence of various functional groups. The thermo-gravimetry analysis was carried out and the crystals were found to be stable up to 170 • C. Applying Coats and Redferm relation to the thermogram, the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of dehydration were calculated. The dielectric study was carried out in the frequency range of applied field from 500 Hz to 1 MHz. The variations of dielectric constant, dielectric loss, AC resistivity and AC conductivity were studied with frequency. It was found that the dielectric constant and the dielectric loss decreased as the frequency of applied field increased, whereas the AC resistivity increased as the frequency increased.

The melt–mixing of polylactide (PLA) with micro- and/or nanofillers is a key method used to obtain specific end-use characteristics and improvements of properties. So-called “insoluble” CaSO4 (CS) β-anhydrite II (AII) is a mineral filler recently considered for the industry of polymer composites. First, the study proves that AII made from natural gypsum by a specifically thermal treatment is highly stable compared to other CS forms. Then, PLAs of different isomer purity and molecular weights (for injection molding (IM) and extrusion), have been used to produce “green” composites filled with 20–40 wt.% AII. The composites show good thermal and mechanical properties, accounting for the excellent filler dispersion and stability. The stiffness of composites increases with the amount of filler, whereas their tensile strength is found to be dependent on PLA molecular weights. Interestingly, the impact resistance is improved by adding 20% AII into all investigated PLAs. Due to advanced kinetics of crystallization ascribed to the effects of AII and use of a PLA grade of high L-lactic acid isomer purity, the composites show after IM an impressive degree of crystallinity (DC), i.e., as high as 50%, while their Vicat softening temperature is remarkably increased to 160 °C, which are thermal properties of great interest for applications requiring elevated rigidity and heat resistance.

Single crystals of barium oxalate have been grown using gel method at ambient temperature. Thermal characteristics and kinetic parameters of barium oxalate crystals were determined by thermo-gravimetric (TG) analysis under non-isothermal heating conditions. The pyrolysis experiments were performed with increasing temperature up-to 600℃ at heating rate of 5℃, 7℃ and 10℃ in nitrogen gas atmosphere. The pyrolysis curve showed that loss of mass took place mainly in the range of 220℃ - 400℃. At higher temperature there was a significant mass loss due to decomposition of oxalates. Ozawa and Coats & Redfern methods were used to determine the apparent activation energies of material degradation. The apparent activation energies for barium oxalate crystals were obtained 187.42 KJ·mol<sup>-1</sup> and 185.4 KJ·mol<sup>-1</sup> for the respective methods
