Abstract:The problem of timely diagnosis and treatment of orphan diseases is today one of the leading in many countries of the world. The article considers the epidemiology of acromegaly, a rare disease that, in the absence of timely medical care, significantly reduces the life expectancy of patients. The review presents global data on the prevalence of disease and the establishment of registers of such patients and suggest ways to address the issue of timely diagnosis of acromegaly in Ukraine.
