Abstract: A 30-days experiment was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of four chemo-attractants viz. DL-alanine, betaine, Ltryptophan (TRP) and inosine monophosphate (IMP) in the diet of Ompok bimaculatus during fry rearing. Fifty numbers of fifteen days weaned fry (0.0739±0.008 g; 2.32±0.06 cm) were stocked into each aerated aquariums (30.0 x 15.0 x 15.0 cm) following a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of five treatments including control with three replicates each. Five iso-nitrogenous purified diets were… Show more

“…Essentially, there is a need to improve the feed formulation of snapper feeds at this culture stage, particularly the addition of attractants to increase acceptability and feed intake. The inclusion of attractants to artificial diets had been known to achieve fast growth due to increased feed ingestion and higher digestibility (Kolkovski et al 2000;Polat and Beklevik 1999;Biswas et al 2018;Fänge and Grove 1979;Kasumyan and Doving 2003). The artificial diets used in the study may also lack the essential nutrients required by the snappers for faster growth.…”

“…The Indian butter catfish, Ompok bimaculatus (Bloch, 1794), is indigenous to the South East Asian countries (Giri et al 2019) and has recently gained immense importance because of its good taste, high lipoprotein, low fat, soft bony structure, and competitive prices (Rawat et al 2018). It is an excellent source of ω-3 and ω-6 fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, protein, and fat (Paul et al 2018).…”
