Abstract: We studied the effects of active immunization with glutamate-protein conjugates on behavioral reactions of C57Bl/6 and BALB/c mice in the open-field test and on animal anxiety in the tail suspension test. Antiglutamate antibodies produced different behavioral changes in mice of these strains.

“…Immunization increased the thresholds of clonic seizures and tonic phase of seizures with lethal outcome. A principal possibility of modulating mouse behavior with anti-Glu AB during active immunization with Glu-BSA conjugate and single systemic administration was demonstrated [1,4,5].Here we studied whether passive immunization of mice with anti-Glu AB can prevent the development of pentylenetetrazole-induced (PTZ) acute generalized epileptiform activity in C57Bl/6 mice. …”

“…The mice were divided into the following four groups: group 1 (n=12), intact control; group 2 (n=11), stressed animals (stressed control); group 3 (n=15), intranasal administration of GLU-AB in a dose of 150 g/kg immediately after stress exposure; and group 4 (n=10), GLU-AB in a dose of 250 g/kg. GLU-AB were obtained by hyperimmunization of rabbits with the conjugated antigen glutamate-BSA [1]. The γ-globulin fraction of GLU-AB was isolated from blood serum of immunized rabbits by precipitation with ammonium sulfate.…”

“…Antibodies to Glu and GABA were obtained in the form of γ-globulin fraction from the serum of rabbits hyperimmunized with Glu-BSA and GABA-BSA conjugates [1]. γ-Globulin obtained from the serum of intact animals served as the control.…”
