Abstract

Kediri Regency is one of the regencies in East Java which has a regional strategy in developing livestock commodities. However, mapping the potential that needs to be done as an effort to increase comparative competitiveness in each sector. This study aims to analyze the advantages and advantages of base-based and non-base-based commodities in the Kediri Regency area based on population and production. Based on the Location Quotient (LQ) analysis, it shows that Kediri Regency based on population is the basis for cattle, goats and sheep, and laying hens. This indicates that the demand within the scope of the region has been fulfilled and can be obtained from areas outside Kediri Regency. Commodities based on production are laying hens, goats and sheep, and beef cattle. The identification of these bases and non-bases can be used as a reference for policy formulation by stakeholders in a more specific, precise, and appropriate based on the population and production by each related sector in Kediri Regency.
