Streszczenie: Obszar oddziaływania portu lotniczego na aktywność podmiotów znajdujących się w jego pobliżu nazywany jest strefą ciążenia portu lotniczego. Analiza tego obszaru umożliwia między innymi ocenę wielkości popytu na przewozy lotnicze. Pozyskane dane stanowią ważny element w procesie zarządza-nia i rozwoju portu lotniczego, w tym rozbudowy dotychczasowej i budowy nowej infrastruktury lotniskowej lub dojazdowej.Celem artykułu jest usystematyzowanie wiedzy dotyczącej sposobu badania strefy ciążenia portu lotniczego oraz ukazanie szeregu metod dostępnych dla badaczy wraz z oceną ich mocnych i słabych stron. W tym celu dokonano przeglądu literatury światowej i krajowej dotyczącej badania obszaru ciążenia portów lotniczych.Analiza wykazała mnogość istniejących metod i narzędzi służących wyznaczaniu i prezentowaniu obszaru ciążenia portu lotniczego. Każda z metod odpowiednio zastosowana dostarcza badaczowi różnych informacji, począwszy od ogólnego zarysu obszaru ciążenia na mapie po dane dotyczące popytu na usługi portu lotniczego. Najkorzystniejsze pod względem wartości poznawczych jest zastosowanie kombinacji metod wykorzystujących pomiar czasu dojazdu i rozpoznanie preferencji pasażerów.Słowa kluczowe: obszar ciążenia, port lotniczy, metodologia badania.Klasyfikacja JEL: R41, R12.Analiza obszaru oddziaływania portu lotniczego -przegląd metod badawczych 113 AIRPORT CATCHMENT AREA ANALYSIS -AN OVERVIEW OF RESEARCH METHODSAbstract: Airport catchment area is the influence area in which airport attracts its passengers. Catchment area analysis provides information that can be used in demand analysis. Data obtained through catchment area analysis are the core information for managers in the management and strategic development processes, for example, in planning new airport infrastructure.This paper aims to systematise the knowledge of catchment area studies and to present a number of study methods available to researchers with their strengths and weaknesses assessment. For this purpose, the world literature and national research on airport catchment area studies was reviewed.The analysis revealed a multitude of existing methods and tools used for determining and presenting catchment area of an airport. Each method, used properly, provides a variety of information ranging from an overview of the catchment area on the map to the data on the demand for airport services. The most beneficial, in terms of cognitive values, is to use a combination of methods based on travel time measurement and passenger preferences study.Keywords: catchment area, airport, study methods. Exhaust emissions from aircraft is a complex issue because of the limited possibility of measurements in flight conditions. Most of the studies on this subject were performed on the basis of stationary test. Engine certification data is used to calculate total emissions generated by air transport. However, it doesnt provide any information about the local effects of air traffic. The main threat to local communities is particulate matter emissions, which adversely affects human health. Emissions from air transport affect air quality, particularly in the vicinity of the airports; it also contributes to the greenhouse effect. The article presents the measurement results of the concentration and size distribution of particles emitted during aircraft landing operation. Measurements were carried out during the landings of aircraft at a civilian airport. It was found that a single landing operation causes particle number concentration value increase of several tenfold in a short period of time. Using aircraft engine certification data, the methodology for determination of the total number of particles emitted during a single landing operation was introduced.
