“…The multi-institutional European study by Marulli and colleagues [11] included patients with robotic resection of thymomas up to 10 cm in size. Keijzers and colleagues [10] reported a series of 37 patients with thymomas with median tumor size of 5.1 cm, which included 4 patients (11%) with advanced stage III/IVa disease. At our institution, we have not used tumor size as an absolute limiting factor for robotic approach.…”

“…Over the past decade, the RAT approach has been offered to patients with large thymomas [10][11][12]. However, there has been a paucity of data.…”

“…Long-term results after thymectomy for early-stage thymoma have also been excellent, with a 5-year survival rate of 90%, though longer-term data with regards to survival and recurrence (a relevant consideration in this fairly indolent disease) remains unknown (10). Robotic thymectomy in pediatric patients and in patients with larger tumors and tumors involving lung, pericardium, and phrenic nerve have also been performed safely (11,12). We view invasion into the mediastinal vessels as the only indication for routine conversion (or initial approach via sternotomy, if obvious).…”

“…lower rates of improvement of MG has not been confirmed in technically perfect thoracoscopic thymectomies [41][42][43][44][45]. Nowadays thymectomy can be performed on Masaoka-Koga stages I and II using minimally-invasive techniques [41][42][43].…”
