8: Coronoid Osteochondroma of the Mandible: Transzygomatic Access and Autogenous Bony Reconstruction

Abstract

Volume 113 Number 2 Scientific Posters P 165 all 15 by 4 mm: implant A: Integral (Calcitek Inc., Carisbed); implant B: Frialit 2 System (Friedrichfeld AG, Mannheim, Germany); and implant C: Branemark System (Nobelpharma AB, Grteborg, Sweden). Numeric analysis: computer-assisted program of design AutoCAD 12 (Autodesk Asicom, Spain); finite element program ANSYS 5.0 (Swanson Analysis System Inc., Houston, Tex.). Results: Vertical loading (17 Kp): in the implant the forces are concentrated at the coronal side and decreases gradually to apical extreme. It is maximum around the cortical bone. Oblique loading (17 Kp, 30~ tensional forces are not symmetric. Maximum values are reached on the buccal side of the implant, at the coronal side, and around the cortical bone.Conclusions: (1) Implant design does not make any difference between tensional forces in the bone, and (2) the maximal values were observed in the cortical bone. This portion is especially important in the success of the implant.
