6Genesis Flagship Program: Building the Bridges Towards 6G-Enabled Wireless Smart Society and Ecosystem

Abstract: In this paper, an initial vision of what the sixth generation mobile communication system (6G) might be is presented. This is done through the primary ideas of the 6Genesis Flagship Program (6GFP), a recently formed Finnish academic and industrial consortium aiming at developing key enabling technologies for 6G. 6GFP is an eight-year large-scale research initiative set to ultimately develop, implement and test key enabling technologies for 6G. Motivations, visions, trends and expectations for 6G are first disc… Show more

“…It is further envisaged that 6G will ultimately realize the nextgeneration connectivity, driven by the evolution from connected everything to connected intelligence, thus enabling "Human-Thing-Intelligence" interconnectivity. Additionally, it will support high-precision communications for tactile and haptic applications in order to provide the required sensory experience at different levels, including smell, touch, vision, and hearing [14]. The key technical requirements to realize this vision include:…”

“…The future 6G will not only concentrate on the pure communication field, but it will be interoperable between different but related fields including electronics and materials, wireless communication, and computer science and engineering [8]. In the field of electronics and materials, nanoelectronics for IoE, RF modules and packaging, high-frequency materials, radio transceivers, energy harvesting, THz imaging, and 2D/3D imaging will be involved.…”
