6G Perspective of Mobile Network Operators, Manufacturers, and Verticals

Abstract: The first release of 5G technology is being rolled out worldwide. In parallel, 3GPP is constantly adding new features to upcoming releases covering well-known use cases. This raises the questions i.) when will 6G be introduced?, ii.) how can 6G be motivated for the stakeholders, and iii.) what are the 6G use cases? In this work, we present the perspective of these stakeholders, namely the network operators, manufacturers, and verticals, identifying potential 5G shortcomings and the remaining 6G solution space.… Show more

“…In particular, a first discussion of the PSC for 6G can be found in [18]. The use of PSC for MC is studied in [20], in which the possible capabilities of MC for 6G is discussed for the first time. Also, a detailed discussion of the requirements for tactile internet (which refers to the data transfer in real-time (extremely low latency) in combination with high availability and reliability requirements) and 6G can be found in [21], in which the PSC is introduced to be of particular importance for several key areas of applications for 6G, wherein new communication scenarios, performance requirements and open questions for the PSC are discussed as well.…”

“…Moreover, the advancements in 6G go beyond these developments, as 6G technologies are positioned to provide unmatched performance, reliability, and security, achieving unprecedented societal connectivity. In this context, new spectrum market models and spectrum management are imperative for understanding and rectifying errors made in the past [8]. In the context of 6G environments, the significance of developing new models for the radioelectric spectrum cannot be overstated.…”

“…As the demand for more efficient and dependable networks grows, mobile networks will need to serve new applications such as mobile payments, financial transactions, cloud-based services, and even predictive analytics. 8,9 Furthermore, mobile security aspects such as encryption, authentication, virus prevention, and others will be critical. As 5G networks begin to roll out, they may eventually replace 4G networks and become the new standard, offering data speeds up to 100 times faster and enabling the development of new applications and services that are impossible with 4G.…”
