Numerous applications of the Internet of Things (IoT) feature an event recognition behavior where the established Shannon capacity is not authorized to be the central performance measure. Instead, the identification capacity for such systems is considered to be an alternative metric, and has been developed in the literature. In this paper, we develop deterministic K-identification (DKI) for the binary symmetric channel (BSC) with and without a Hamming weight constraint imposed on the codewords. This channel may be of use for IoT in the context of smart system technologies, where sophisticated communication models can be reduced to a BSC for the aim of studying basic information theoretical properties. We derive inner and outer bounds on the DKI capacity of the BSC when the size of the goal message set K may grow in the codeword length n. As a major observation, we find that, for deterministic encoding, assuming that K grows exponentially in n, i.e., K=2nκ, where κ is the identification goal rate, then the number of messages that can be accurately identified grows exponentially in n, i.e., 2nR, where R is the DKI coding rate. Furthermore, the established inner and outer bound regions reflects impact of the input constraint (Hamming weight) and the channel statistics, i.e., the cross-over probability.

While 5G has become a reality in several places around the world, some countries are still in the process of assigning frequency bands and deploying networks. In this context, there is a significant opportunity to explore new market models for the management and utilization of the radio spectrum. Access to the radio spectrum results in diverse competition schemes, where market behavior varies based on the regulator-defined access scheme and the competitive strategies of different actors. To thoroughly analyze potential competition scenarios, this work introduces a model that enhances the comprehension of market variables, emphasizing behaviors influenced by relationships. The model’s development leverages the potential of artificial intelligence and historical data from Colombia’s mobile telecommunications market. Intelligent spectrum sensing, based on Software Defined Radio, augments the model’s construction, utilizing lightweight AI algorithms to acquire real data on spectrum occupancy. In this way, the model provides novel insights into market dynamics, enabling the formulation of informed decision-making policies for regulatory bodies. Additionally, the application of causal machine learning (CausalML) helps understand the underlying causes of market behaviors, facilitating the design of guiding policies to maximize spectrum usage and foster competition. This approach demonstrates how AI-driven approaches and a deeper understanding of market dynamics can lead to effective 5G spectrum management, fostering a more competitive and efficient wireless communication landscape.

SummaryFifth generation cellular networks have high data rates and connectivity demands. The relaying approaches are widely used in cellular networks to improve coverage, user throughput, and capacity at low cost. The increasing data requirements of the mobile network increase energy consumption. Energy efficiency‐based approaches also impact network coverage and throughput. Therefore, developing an energy‐efficient network with optimal coverage and throughput is considered a challenging issue. It can be resolved with optimal deployment of Base Station (BS), Relay Station (RS), and minimizing power consumption. In this research, a joint clustering‐based deployment technique is proposed for BS–RS deployment by considering the network throughput and coverage ratio. After enabling optimal BS–RS deployment, the network traffic is estimated with an On‐demand real‐time traffic estimation framework (ODTE). It estimates user association values using Beacon frames. In addition, the Relay Assisted Base station Power Scheduling (RABPS) approach to minimize power consumption is included. Based on Erlang's probability, the RABPS algorithm is enhanced with sleep mode activation during off‐peak hours. The proposed 5G network ensures uninterrupted connectivity and energy efficiency with varying time slots of power scheduling. The throughput performance of the clustering‐based approach is increased with a coverage ratio of 88%. The simulation results show the superiority of the proposed 5G BS–RS deployment and power scheduling in terms of throughput, coverage ratio, and power consumption.
