Abstract

This study aims to identify the behavior of student financial management so as to be able to find an effective financial management learning strategy for the second semester management study program students (2) Faculty of Economics, University of Nusantara PGRI Kediri. This research is a qualitative research with ethnometodology approach. Ethnometodology studies are deemed appropriate as a method for identifying Financial Management Behavior because ethnometodology is a secular methodology (inductive truth only becomes the truth of knowledge). This research was conducted by direct observation and in-depth interviews with the students of management department in Economics Faculty UNPGRI Kediri who were included in the criteria of the Informant. Informants were selected using the 5R criteria namely Relevance, Recommendation, Rapport, Readiness, Reassurance. While direct observation is done when students are in the campus environment, then interviews are conducted openly to reveal the meaning of financial management behavior. Almost all informants stated that their financial management attitude was not influenced by the results of the financial management learning process. This shows that the learning process has not been in accordance with the learning outcomes. Lecturers have an important role in the learning process during class. Every lecturer is not enough just to give lessons, but also tries to guide them to provide understanding so that what has been learned is able to be applied in daily life.
