60 GHz wireless communications: Emerging requirements and design recommendations

Abstract: As the result designed 16-element antenna array with corporate feed network, it has about 20% bandwidth and about 18 dBi gain. Designed antenna can be easily fabricated on LTCC substrate. ABSTRACT: This letter investigates design considerations and impact of technological parametric variations on microwave performance of gate electrode workfunction engineered recessed channel (GEWE-RC) MOSFET using ATLAS. Results reveal significantly enhanced microwave performance of GEWE-RC over bulk in terms of intrinsic del… Show more

“…Later in the 90's the deployment scenario was extended to indoor scenarios where human blockage and penetration loss through walls are the major interests of investigation to determine the coverage and the link budget. A large number of papers were produced for the indoor channel modeling and reporting the importance of interplay of propagation channels with directional antennas in terms of alignment and polarization [4]- [6]. The main research interests were link budget, delay dispersion, and Doppler effects.…”

“…However, the unlicensed 60 GHz band enables UWB multi-Gbit/s wireless communications worldwide, as shown in Fig. 2, while challenges related to wireless channel and transceiver design have to be addressed (Daniels & Heath, 2007). RoF distribution of UWB signals, termed UWB-over-fibre, has received great interest to extend the UWB range exploiting the advantages of the broad bandwidth, low loss, light weight, and immunity to electromagnetic interference offered by optical fibres.…”

“…The large bandwidth in mmWave frequencies enables multi-Gpbs data rates for indoor wireless systems [1], [2], and makes mmWave communication a promising candidate for future outdoor cellular networks [3], [4]. In order to obtain high quality communication links, large antenna arrays are required at both the base station (BS) and users in mmWave systems.…”
