6‐Thioguanine‐related Chronic Hepatotoxicity and Variceal Haemorrhage in Children Treated for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia‐A Dual‐centre Experience

Abstract: 6-Thioguanine-induced chronic hepatotoxicity is a significant complication in children treated with this agent for ALL. Children may present several months to years after discontinuation of 6-thioguanine. All children given maintenance treatment of ALL with this agent should be screened, and affected children require long-term surveillance.

“…6-TG ile endotel hasarına bağlı gelişen VOH arasındaki ilişki iyi tanımlanmasına rağmen 6-TGİKH'nin mekanizması halen tam olarak bilinmemektedir (18,19). Hepatik sinüzoidal endotel hasarının yol açtığı portal venüler obstrüksiyonun karaciğer içinde vasküler akımı bozmasına bağlı olarak portal hipertansiyonun gelişebileceği ileri sürülmektedir (6).…”
